World War II Military History Magazine
now on Newsstand

LONDON 12th July 2013

Digital publishing experts Exact Editions are working with military history specialists Osprey Publishing to create a new magazine app for Apple’s Newsstand. World War II Military History Magazine will be available for free as a download, before allowing users to upgrade to an auto-renewing subscription through their iTunes account.

The brand new app will consist of content from the Osprey archive being released in a serialised form, helping the book publisher to reap the rewards of Newsstand subscriptions. With this new model of selling, Osprey capitalizes on the incremental revenue streams that come with auto-renewing app subscriptions.

By publishing an iTunes magazine, Osprey will create a subscriber community for their titles. This is a new way for book publishers to understand their customers, making it easier to track the trends, likes and dislikes of their subscribers.

The Osprey military titles are the ideal match for the high-resolution displays of Apple products. The detailed artwork, photographs and maps in each issue lend themselves beautifully to the iPad’s Retina Display. Each edition will develop this valuable resource for military history enthusiasts with clarity and ease, from detailing the course of key battles, to the experiences of soldiers, and evolution of battle technologies, rounded off with an engaging quiz.

Richard Sullivan, Managing Director of Osprey Publishing said about the app launch: " We are excited to be able to engage with our customers in a new and exciting way directly in the iTunes newsstand. World War II Military History Magazine will provide a fabulous resource, with the maps and imagery of the magazine particularly standing out on the iPad."

Daryl Rayner, Managing Director of Exact Editions said about the app launch: " Exact Editions are delighted to be able to offer this unique selling model to publishers. App subscriptions help publishers to connect with their customers in a direct and regular way. Book publishers can now enjoy the delights of magazine selling"
