On the same day that David Moyes was confirmed as the next manager of Manchester United, replacing the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson. 'Red News' and 'When Skies are Grey', two of the most popular fanzines for Manchester United and Everton, entered the global digital marketplace of Apple's Newsstand.

Red News and When Skies are Grey were yesterday released as stand alone apps in Apple's newsstand. Meaning fans of Everton and Manchester United, from all over the world, will be able to read the latest fan-written news and opinion on their clubs, at home or on the move.

At 26 and 25 years old respectively, Red News and When Skies are Grey, are two of the oldest surviving football fanzines. These magazines with such a large historical pedigree will now be available on all iOS devices, with When Skies are Grey, moving to a solely digital format. These are interesting times for both clubs, with changes of two of the three longest serving managers in the Premier League, there is sure to be much to read and discuss in the coming weeks, for fans of both of these northwest clubs.

Leading digital publishers Exact Editions have developed two apps that will allow subscribers to search, bookmark and share via social media, articles in back issues as well as the latest news. Red News and When Skies are Grey, join a growing number of fanzines, with apps made by Exact Editions. The Gooner (Arsenal), United We Stand (Manchester United) and Well Red (Liverpool) are already available on the Newsstand. Articles in the app are fully searchable, with subscribers being able to bookmark specific searches or articles. The apps also support a wide range of social media networks, such as Twitter, Facebook and Weibo for some subscribers a bit further afield.
