Plays International & Europe Launches Growing Digital Archive
Quarterly theatre magazine Plays International & Europe has launched a new digital archive with digital publishing experts Exact Editions’ cutting-edge platform. The title’s international subscription base can now delve into past and present theatre trends and performances, documented throughout an expansive collection of back issues, as well as new issues.
An evolved form of Plays International, originally founded by Plays and Players editor Peter Roberts in 1985, the magazine is now published by the Theater Research Institute of Europe. Every issue reports on dozens of productions performed in theatrical hotspots across the globe, including London and UK regions, Dublin, New York, Chicago, Berlin, Vienna, Milan and Paris; Moscow, Tel Aviv, Tehran and Sydney, as well as across Europe and Brazil.
The archive’s intuitive search function grants users a seamless browsing experience on web, iOS and Android, with mentions of specific productions, actors and directors discoverable at the touch of a button. Comprehensive bookmarking and sharing facilities also mean that the individualistic editorial perspectives and entertaining, informative essays penned by critic-correspondents can be dispersed and relished amongst circles of theatre enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Plays International & Europe is available in the Exact Editions shops here:
Dr Dana Rufolo, editor of Plays International & Europe, commented: “We are thrilled that Exact Editions will permit more people to access our articles about under-reported or never-before-known international theatrical events. Every issue is a surprise that reveals the synergistic effect of theatre worldwide.”
Daryl Rayner, Managing Director of Exact Editions, said: “Every page of the archive looks wonderful in its new digital format, and it will only increase in size and cultural worth as the years go on.”
